Les Contamines attracts walkers, hikers, mountain bikers & birders to the area who enjoy the unspoilt mountains, lakes, fauna & flora. The village organises various events over the summer months.

Les Contamines Montjie Natural Reserve was created in 1979 and covers more than 5500 hectares of varied terrain rising from 1000-3900 meters high and covering forests, pastures, torrents, rocks, snow fields and glaciers. For further info on the reserve

Walking in Les Contamines evokes images of flowering meadows, high mountain pastures and dense pine forests, under the summits of the Mont-Blanc mountain range. The village is the departure point for a great number of walks and longer hikes along forest footpaths and across varied terrain. There are more than 120 kilometres of sign-posted paths and trails. Enjoy a varied choice of footpaths and trails within the nature reserve, Near la Frasse, Near Notre Dame de la Gorge and towards Mount Joly. The Joly pass and pastures, Lake Jovet and the trail of the Baroque (Les Contamines-Montjoie > Combloux > Saint-Gervais) or from Contamines to Saint-Gervais on the Val Montjoie path are great options. The Pontet Leisure and Sports park is in a huge area of protected countryside at the foot of Mont Blanc. It offers a multitude of lesuire activities including a swimming lake, Pedal boats, a childrens playground, tennis, golf, a driving range, archery, fishing, rock climbing, ski lifts an equestrian centre and an adventure trail.

Heritage – Visit Notre-Dame de la Gore Church, a treasure of Baroque art! Rebuilt in 1699, it has been the Parish church since the 13th century and a sanctuary with a wide spiritual influence dedicated to the worship of Our Lady and a place of prayer visited by everyone travelling over the Bonhomme Pass.
